Belpre Municipal Civil Service Commission is now accepting applications for the purpose of filling eligibility lists for the position of Wastewater Plant Operator 1. This is to fill at least one open position. Testing will be conducted at Washington County Career Center, Marietta, Ohio, at the offices of Adult Technical Training. Testing will be conducted by appointment only following successfully completing the application process. 

Requirements: Employee must hold a valid Ohio EPA Class 1 or higher Wastewater Operator license. Applicants without a valid Ohio EPA Operator License will be accepted, but shall be required to obtain a valid Ohio EPA Class 1 license within 18 months of hiring date or face job termination according to AFSCME Contract, Article 27.1. Applicant must hold a valid driver license. Applicants should return completed application, fee, and a copy of the valid Ohio EPA Class 1 or higher Wastewater Operator License (if held).

Pay is $22.42 hourly based on current pay schedule for a licensed Operator 1. If you do not have the license but willing to obtain in 18 months the pay is $20.65 until license is obtained.

Costs: There is a $25 Fee for taking the examination. This fee is required when the application is received. Do not send cash. Checks or Money Orders should be made payable to the City of Belpre Municipal Civil Service Commission. If the Fee is not included with your application, it will not be considered. You cannot pay your fee on the day of the examination.

Applications: Candidates desiring to be considered for the above position must file an application with all of the required documentation. (NO RESUMES WILL BE ACCEPTED.) Applications can be obtained from the City of Belpre Website (www.cityofbelpre.com). Application must be completed and mailed to the Civil Service Commission, P.O. Box 503, Belpre, Ohio 45714 and will be accepted until the position is filled. Do not submit your application to the City of Belpre. All applications must be mailed to the above P.O. Box to be considered for the position.

You must have a passing grade on the examination to be considered for the position.

Veterans must include a copy of their DD-214 with their applications to be considered for Military Credit. Credit for Military Service will be considered for all applicants with a passing score.

Testing: No one will be allowed to enter for testing prior to 30 minutes of when test time begins. No one shall be admitted 10 minutes after test time begins. No cell phones are allowed in the test area. Bring a driver's license as identification. Failure to appear for any Civil Service Examination will result in the placement of your application in an inactive file. No refunds of application fees will be made in event of failure to appear for testing.
