Apply with us today! DESCRIPTION OF WORK This is journey level locksmith trades work in ensuring the operability of locks and related equipment in a state correctional facility.

An employee in this job is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanically, electronically, or pneumatically controlled locks. Work involves conducting routine testing; troubleshooting problems associated with locks and mechanisms; performing necessary repairs, adjustments, and parts replacement; and maintaining inspection and maintenance records. Employees in this job are responsible for the care, custody, and control of inmates during work assignments that do not compromise security. An important aspect of this work involves ensuring the operability of equipment designated to restrain and control inmate movement to ensure the safety and security of employees and inmates. An employee in this job exercises considerable independence in determining work methods and procedures and receives assignments either orally or in writing. Work is reviewed by a technical or administrative supervisor through inspections and upon completion for compliance with established policies and procedures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hour work week. Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.  Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience in the locksmith trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements: You must successfully complete basic training in Elizabethtown, PA. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
