THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE LOUISIANA SPECIAL SCHOOLS DISTRICT IN THE NON-ACADEMIC SERVICES/ACTIVITIES DEPARTMENT.

THIS POSITION MAY BE FILLED AS A PART-TIME POSITION - WAE (WORKS WHEN ACTUALLY EMPLOYED).

The Person that is hired for this position will be a BUS DRIVER for the RESIDENTIAL STUDENTS and STAFF,

Incumbents in this position may not work more than 1,245 hours or 1 year; whichever comes first. This is a Part-Time position, working an average between 24-30 hours per week. The employee willONLYbe paid forACTUAL HOURS WORKED.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

One year of experience in mobile equipment operations.

NOTE:

May be required to possess a valid Louisiana driver's license or commercial driver's license.

Job Concepts

FUNCTION OF WORK:

To operate mobile equipment (such as that enumerated below) to accomplish transportation, maintenance, or construction tasks.

LEVEL OF WORK:

Advanced.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

General from a Foreman or other higher level maintenance, supervisory, or administrative personnel.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

May exercise functional supervision over lower graded equipment operators or laboring personnel.

LOCATION OF WORK:

May be used by all agencies, statewide.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:

Differs from Mobile Equipment Operator 1 by the requirement to operate mobile equipment that is larger or has more complicated operating and handling characteristics.

Differs from Mobile Equipment Operator 1--Heavy by the restriction to primary operation of equipment that is lighter and/or less complicated to operate.

EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.

NOTE:

Operation of one or more of the types of equipment enumerated must be the primary, regular, and recurring function of the job.

Transports patients, students, workers, or other persons between homes and institutions on trips, between-points on and/or off institution or agency grounds.

Oversees and assists with loading and unloading of vehicle if required.

Maintains vehicle records of trips made (mileage, oil and gas consumption, etc.).

Operates field tractors with power ratings over 52 horse power; tractors may be equipped with attachments such as bush hogs, belly attachments, blades, hoes, loaders, etc.

Operates field tractors with gang mowers over eight feet across or slope mower.

Operates dump truck with rated capacity over 6 yards.

Operates cargo vans and/or stake body or flatbed trucks with ratings over 4 tons, other than tractor-trailers.

Operates buses with over 25 passenger capacity.

Operates winch trucks, A frame trucks, aerial back lift trucks, pole trucks, and/or trailer.

Operates sign truck.

Operates BOB-CAT tractor.

Operates garbage or trash trucks with hydraulic loader or compactor.

May provide guidance to and oversee the work of lower graded operators and laborers in the maintenance and repair of railroad tracks or other tasks, as required.

May also operate auxiliary equipment such as slurry machine, asphalt tank car heater, and auxiliary equipment listed for Mobile Equipment Operator 1.

May be required to operate any equipment enumerated for Mobile Equipment Operator 1 when necessary to accomplish work objectives.

May perform incidental repair and construction tasks such as installation of guard rail, fencing, fender systems, and cabling at moveable bridges and other structures.

Makes minor repairs to equipment and performs user maintenance necessary to keep equipment in clean, good working order.
