Can you collaborate effectively, execute a plan efficiently and positively influence how Target chooses and presents the right product in the right place at the right price? If so, you will have success on one of our dynamic teams.

As a Sr. Manager in the Planning, you will lead and coach your planners to translate pyramid and divisional financials into merchandise targets such as SKU count, across departments and drive consensus among Planners. You will provide hands-on training to Planners and support cross-functional exposure to ensure a planning skill set is built. You will maintain financial accountability for the assortment, in partnership with Merchandising Divisional.

Your core responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Lead a team of merch planners in service of building core planning capability at TII

  • Actively engage with planning partners in MPLS to iterate and evolve the working model that is efficient and scalable

  • Be the point person for VP’s/ Sr. Divisional/ Divisional on division support to present findings and share learnings & opportunity areas

  • Ensure consistent delivery of error free planning routines on time

  • Coach & develop planners to build a high performing team

  • Identify areas in the work to be efficient and drive productivity within the team

Reporting/Working Relationship

  • Reports to Director, Planning

  • Works closely with all MPLS Planning Leaders (VP, Sr. Divisionals/ Divisionals, Global capability team)

Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in merchandise planning

  • Outstanding financial acumen, with deep knowledge of the nuances of retail accounting

  • Knowledge of financial and merchandise planning systems and processes

  • Knowledge of supply chain planning (allocation, replenishment and operations)

  • Excellent understanding of mass merchandising, retail, e-commerce and multi-channel retailing

  • Depth and breadth of understanding the market and category

  • Proven ability to work and negotiate with a wide variety of vendors from large, sophisticated national vendors to small, niche, regional vendors

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate with all levels within organization

  • Strong collaboration skills to build long-term strategic plans

  • Curiosity- someone who is committed to learning how Target works, learning Planning @ Target, and is passionate about teaching/ helping their team learn.

  • Comfort with Ambiguity- This will be a new role, supporting team members who are new to Target and piloting new ways of working @ Target. It will be critical to have someone who is confident standing up new initiatives, can focus on progress over perfection, is optimistic and can manage through change.
