Johns Hopkins University Research Program Coordinator in Baltimore, Maryland

The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking a Research Program Coordinator to coordination of multiple research studies related to eating behavior in infants, children, adolescents and adults, including studies of eating disorders, bariatric surgery, and pharmacological obesity interventions. The Research Program Coordinator is responsible for participant recruitment, protocol implementation, data entry/management, and supporting the Principal Investigator in research-related activities (e.g., literature reviews, preliminary data analyses, manuscript preparation, lab management, budget management, regulatory activities).

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Research Recruitment

  • Create recruitment materials, initiate subject recruitment strategy, and monitor recruitment goals.

  • Complete telephone screening procedures, and independently administer and score screening tools.

  • Respond to phone and email inquiries in a timely fashion.

  • Keep records of advertising if indicated.

  • Maintain database of current, potential, and declined subjects.

Protocol Implementation

  • Coordinate implementation of multiple research studies including randomized drug trial in adults, and longitudinal study in children, each including blood draws, meal tests and MRI scans.

  • Compile and maintain IRB protocols and assist with other regulatory documentation.

  • Oversee and conduct data collection including administering questionnaires, computer tasks, meal tests and MRI scans to adults and children.

  • Coordinate schedule and reminder calls for study visits, and preparation of study materials.

  • Manage progress reports and other communication with study sponsors including NIH and pharmaceutical company team.

  • Manage multiple study budgets.

Data Management and Analysis

  • After data is obtained, review all forms for completeness and accuracy, and obtain clarification or corrections if necessary.

  • Maintain study records in an organized manner.

  • Train and supervise students or interns on data management.

  • Develop and maintain research databases.

  • Data cleaning and organization.

Publication/Presentation/Grant Preparation Support

  • Support PI in preparing PowerPoint presentations, publications, progress reports, and grant applications emanating from this research.

Student Supervision

  • Provide orientation to research projects to students and interns.

  • Ensure assignments given to students and interns are completed in timely fashion.

  • Direct and supervise students and interns in research related activities.

Meeting Attendance

  • Attend research meetings.

  • Generate to do lists from meetings and timeline for completion of tasks.

  • Attend training sessions as available or required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline (e.g., Psychology, Neuroscience, Public Health).

  • Some related experience.

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in related discipline.

  • Research experience in a related discipline such as Psychology or Public Health, especially behavioral obesity research in adults or children.

  • Related experience in data collection, data management, and/or data analysis.

  • Knowledge/proficiency with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, STATA, MPLUS), and database management (e.g., developing databases in REDCap, Microsoft Access, or SPSS) is desirable.

Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 HRLY ($47,840 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
