Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer to join the Additive Manufacturing Engineering Team. The Engineer will be responsible for supporting fabrication efforts, developing new processes, and managing IRAD projects related to additive manufacturing.
The chosen candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility manufacturing environment, and work well as part of a team.

The Manufacturing Engineer has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
Manufacturing Production Support
Develop precision machine builds following process documentation to support hands-on additive manufacturing fabrication.
Provide guidance to technicians on the factory floor through technical troubleshooting.
Initiate corrective action and process optimization to ensure product quality to ensure all parts conform to the design configuration.
Design Engineering Support
Collaborate with design, RF, and systems engineering to develop producible additively manufactured designs and product development expectations that support program needs.
Identify and advocate for additive manufacturing challenges and advantages.
Create and refine guidelines for additive manufacturing supplied to design engineering.
Provide additive manufacturing expertise to NGC suppliers in support of program requirements.
Process Development
Execute the Additive Manufacturing development roadmap, including the maturation of low Manufacturing Readiness Level process capabilities into full-rate-production as a primary program liaison collaborating with upstream and downstream manufacturing processes.
Collaborate on complex advanced manufacturing projects with critical emerging technology potential tracking schedule, cost, and performance.
Process development of Additive Manufacturing equipment for Metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion and post-processing systems.
Basic Qualifications:
Manufacturing Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field and 5 years of relevant professional experience (3 years with a Master's degree).
Prior experience with manufacturing engineering and new product development.
Demonstrated experience with project management and communication tracking cost and schedule.
Must have fluency in MS Office software applications.
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret level security clearance is required.
US Citizenship is a prerequisite.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior knowledge of Laser Powder Bed Fusion materials, assembly processes and subtractive manufacturing processes
Fundamental understanding of additive manufacturing processes and technology with strong technical and analytical skills and problem-solving techniques
Familiarity with process development, control, and continuous improvement methodologies such as Design of Experiment (DOE), Lean Manufacturing, and 6 Sigma Concepts
Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
