ASM Global Facilities Engineer in Bakersfield, California

  • Assists the director in directing, supervising and coordinating all technical aspects of events, including engineering; building and grounds; technical services; event services, including ADA compliance; and public safety.

  • Technically supports all events including nationally recognized entertainment; concerts; conventions; sport competitions, school activities, etc.

  • Position requires working production knowledge of audio, video, theater, commercial lighting, electrical, computer network and telephone systems.

  • Assists in implementing facility rules, regulation policies and procedures.

  • Anticipates problems and appropriate solutions. Investigates, analyzes and resolves technical issues and complaints.

  • Excellent technical troubleshooting and customer service skills required.

  • Electronic soldering experience, use of multimeter, fiber optic knowledge, understanding of Ohm's law, and experience with theater rigging is required.

  • Assures facility readiness and smooth operation of all events.

  • Assists in the oversight of maintenance for the facility and technical systems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

A Degree from technical college with major in Maintenance Engineering or related field is suggested. Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar facility or role. Additional experience may be substituted for education.

SKILLS & APTITUDES:

  • Requires excellent organization skills, ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff including management.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to effectively supervise staff.

  • Must exhibit strong customer service skills; professional presentation, appearance and work ethic.

  • Technical Engineer must be self-motivated.

  • Ability to work smoothly and efficiently under pressure is required.

  • The job requires working in heights of 60 feet and over, as well as, walking on high catwalks.

  • The position requires the ability to walk on concrete floors 2 to 4 miles per workday.

  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays and odd hours as required by events.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for supervising the activity and work of the stagehands, assisting the Director in ensuring all safety standards and contractual obligations are followed.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

Three to five years experience in stage production, video production, sound engineering, electrical, or related fields.

Experience with industry standard cabling, wire grouping, color codes, termination, frames, numbering and routing/dressing arrangement.

Familiarity with telephone and telecommunications system used in the facility, including, but not limited to, multi-line phone systems, local area networks and modems.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and must be able to learn Maintenance Manager software program.
