Summary of Role:

SunPower is seeking a Warranty and O&M Senior Accountant who will be reporting into the Warranty/O&M Manager. This position will be responsible for helping to manage the warranty accrual (including the underlying modeling) and claim process for SunPower's Residential business. The position will execute the month-end/quarter close preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, management & financial reports, and SOX requirements. The position will work hand-in-hand with our Residential business partners, including cross-functional and cross-geographical teams.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of the warranty modeling (underlying report inputs and tie-out, claims data, various assumptions, etc.)

  • Periodic assessment of the existing warranty rates and whether an adjustment is needed

  • Review warranty claims for appropriate classification (covered by warranty, product, etc.) for use in helping to summarize the periodic claim activity

  • Help reconcile the outstanding RMA claims whereby the dealer (or partner) has not yet returned an item to SunPower (and should be invoiced) or has not reimbursed SunPower for workmanship performed on the installing partners behalf

  • Work with the RMA Team to further streamline the claims process for more timely identification of latent returns and help to standardize RMA processing for consistent accounting

  • Identify opportunities for further recourse/reimbursement with the supplier based on contract terms (i.e. identification of epidemic, etc.) and other potential recovery

  • Work cross-functionally with several different stakeholder groups to summarize the data for use in reporting to management

  • Prepare the needed journal entries for both month-end/quarter close and execution of the warranty SOX controls

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly cycle review materials for use in flux analysis review with Management

  • Work with IT business partners to help automate manual processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting

  • Public accounting experience with Big 4 or national accounting firm and/or 4 years in the industry

  • Working knowledge of GAAP, accounting procedures, accounting systems and SOX compliance/processes

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Detail oriented with strict attention to deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • Oracle Fusion experience

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Candidate must be willing to work overtime as the business requires (to include weekends, holidays, etc.)

The base pay for this position ranges from $77,000.00/year to $115,600.00/year. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
