Conduct desktop studies by evaluating archival and academically available hydrographic and GIS data to characterize various ocean environments for bottom type and understand the oceanographic and geophysical processes involved.Develop hydrographic survey plans that may include the collection of bathymetry, side scan, or sub-bottom, and the deployment of sensors such as Current Meters, Cores, AUVs, and Ambient Noise measurement systems. Provide at-sea support for shipboard data collection efforts.Environmental characterization of various ocean regions using hydrographic datasets from various sources including bathymetry, backscatter, sub-bottom, sound speed, current meters, cores, etc. Includes collaborative research efforts with other team members. Implement and maintain research grade software and analysis tools to support the analysis and interpretation of oceanographic data.Preparation and review of analysis presentations and reports. Presentation of analysis results at internal and external working group meetings (may include travel).Other related functions as assigned.
