Pavement Engineer Spec IIParticipate in testing, calibration, and correlation of pavement data measurement systems. Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate electronic, electrical, and mechanical components of automated pavement measurement equipment. Participate in the design, manufacturing, and acquisition of automated data measurement equipment. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Pavement Engineer Spec IIIOversee in testing, calibration, and correlation of pavement data measurement systems. Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate electronic, electrical, and mechanical components of automated pavement measurement equipment. Lead and participate in the design, manufacturing, and acquisition of automated data measurement equipment. Create and edit equipment operation manuals and develop specifications. Provide trainings on pavement data measurement systems. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Pavement Engineer Spec IVOversee in testing, calibration, and correlation of pavement data measurement systems. Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate electronic, electrical, and mechanical components of automated pavement measurement equipment. Oversee the design, manufacturing, and acquisition of automated data measurement equipment. Create and edit equipment operation manuals and develop specifications. Manage statewide data measurement and collection initiatives, including research, load zoning, investigations, and pavement evaluation/design projects. Oversea and provide trainings on pavement data measurement systems. Present on automated pavement measurement equipment development at meetings and conferences. Provide expert advice on pavement-related activities to professionals. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Essential Duties:Pavement Engineer Spec II:Troubleshoots, repairs and calibrates electronic, electrical and mechanical automated pavement Measurement equipment subsystems. Participates in the design, fabrication, and procurement of automated data measurement equipment. Maintains parts and pavement data measurement equipment inventory. Assists in data processing and compilation. Performs data analysis to evaluate equipment. Prepares and makes presentations.Writes equipment operation manuals and develops equipment/system specifications. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Pavement Engineer Spec III:All of the above, andAssists with or oversees the acquisition of automated pavement measurement vehicles and equipment Participates in or oversees the fabrication and testing, calibration and correlation of pavement data measurement equipment and subsystems. Coordinates and schedules statewide or district wide data measurement and collection activities, including research projects, load zoning, forensic investigations and pavement evaluation/design projects. Coordinates statewide training of district personnel on automated pavement measurement equipment operation, calibration and data processing procedures.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Pavement Engineer Spec IV:All of the above, andConducts and oversees pavement data audits to ensure completeness and accuracy of data, monitors quality assurance and verifies proper editing and storage of collected data.Identifies requirements to the purchasing staff and writes specifications for professional services contracts.Trains other employees. Represents the Department on state or national committees and task forces concerned with automated pavement measurement equipment.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
