Cardinal Health Director of Business Development, Cell and Gene in Austin, Texas
Position Summary:
The Director of Business Development, Cell and Gene, contributes to the development and execution of core strategies and organic and inorganic growth initiatives within Cardinal Health’s NPHS Precision Health Solutions business, ensuring the business unit achieves its strategic and financial objectives. In addition, the Director will maintain real-time awareness of market trends and fresh strategic partnerships with competitors, furthering segment and enterprise leadership’s knowledge of the market and its potential impact on their business.

This position reports to the Sr. Director of Business Development, Strategic Planning and Execution and is an individual contributor role. Due to the travel associated with the role, this individual can reside anywhere in the United States with convenient access to a major, national airport.
Responsibilities:
Develops growth strategies and long-term positioning plans for cell and gene within Cardinal Health’s NPHS Precision Health Solutions business segment
Proactively prospects for, develops, and maintains a pipeline of strategic opportunities
Researches and develops deep understanding of market, competitors, products, industry, and potential target opportunities considering Cardinal Health's NPHS Precision Health Solutions goals
Responsible for prospecting, designing, contracting, negotiating and closing deals with innovator partners
Identify shared interested with innovators to deliver an optimal deal structure
Provide briefs to NPHS leadership on emergent competitors/technologies
Communicate regularly with executive teams for deal reviews, pitch outs, status updates, business case discussions etc.
Serve as primary Cardinal Health NPHS Precision Health Solutions account owner for select Strategic Partners and ensure expected business results are realized for both parties
Successfully lead negotiations that satisfy business objectives for both Cardinal Health NPHS and the partner
Expand the company’s network of trusted advisors and information sources with respect to business development
Assist in the evaluation and execution of strategic opportunities and potential business deals
Lead and/or support financial and operational due diligence/ business case development for deals
Develop policies and/or procedures that do not exist already
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in related field preferred. Advance Degree preferred
Demonstrated scientific knowledge in related field (e.g., biology, chemistry, laboratory sciences, imaging) preferred
5+ years of business development experience preferred
Healthcare sales experience in Cell and Gene (highly preferred), pharmaceuticals, in-vitro Lab Diagnostics (IVD) or medical device sectors with a complex, competitive, global company preferred
Demonstrated ability to build effective long-term customer/partner relationships that lead to a mutually beneficial business results and outcomes
Strong analytical and reasoning capabilities coupled with ability to perform in fast paced, matrix environments
Strong negotiating, contracting and deal modeling capabilities
Experience creating solutions to meet customers unique needs
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross functionally
Ability to present and communicate complex ideas and strategies to senior leaders and customers at all levels of an organization
Proficiency in executive level presentation development and business case creation
Strong interpersonal skills and communication style that will develop confidence not only internally among employees and the management board, but also externally among current and potential customers
Superior analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to travel 50% of time or more; Position may require international travel

Anticipated salary range: $112,500 - $181,650
