Part-time Support Staff

The part time Financial Aid Advisor to support Outreach Services, reports to the Director of Student Financial Aid Services. This position will be the main contact for students and parents and offer crucial support and information on financial aid programs. This role emphasizes outreach, involving the management of email and phone campaigns to assist students with their financial aid applications, and direct interaction at the reception desk. Additional duties include processing and digitizing financial aid documents and operating the Student Information System for various tasks.

Manage phone and email queues while supporting and receiving students at the reception desk.

Actively engage with students through workshops, seminars, and one-on-one sessions to educate them about financial aid opportunities, the application process, and effective financial planning.

Collaborate with Financial Aid Management to design and implement outreach programs related to basic needs insecurity, scholarship opportunities, and internal and external emergency and community support.

Provide personalized financial aid counseling to students and families, focusing on their specific needs and circumstances.

Assists in the development of educational materials and resources to support scholarship outreach and support to meet basic needs (i.e., financial, housing, food, and transportation.)

Collect feedback from outreach initiatives and student interactions to help measure the effectiveness of financial aid funding and support.

Stay current with state and federal regulations that affect the programs being managed and aid programs in general.

Review documents submitted by students and parents to determine eligibility.

Assist in preparing reports for and responding to audits by Federal and State agencies.

Attend necessary workshops and seminars.

Assist with financial aid aspects of recruitment, admission, enrollment, and retention activities.

Conduct financial aid presentations for groups of current and prospective students as requested.

Provide office hours at other campuses as required.

Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director and/or the Manager of Student Financial Aid Services.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate\'s degree required; Bachelor\'s degree strongly preferred.

One year of related employment experience, including student outreach and workshop design, student coaching, or customer service.

Knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs is preferred.

Comfortable presenting to varying size audiences.

MS Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Ability to work closely and confidentially with students.

Good organizational skills.

The ability to work independently and creatively.

Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and offsite events.

Bilingual Spanish/English desired.
