Job Overview

The Perioperative Service Coordinator is responsible for providing direct patient care in a perioperative environment. Additionally, this role is responsible for initiating and supporting work efforts that maximize quality, safety and services in defined perioperative specialties in collaboration with leadership and providers. Assists with procedures and anesthesia and coordinates the ordering and securing of supplies, equipment and instruments on behalf of providers. Provides clinical education to team mem The Operating Room at Anschutz campus is a 14 OR unit that treats children and adolescents for any level of injury or illness. The unit supports 24 different surgical specialties and performs more than 23,000 cases a year. We are a unique, yet impressive team comprised of bachelor's prepared nurses, certified surgical technicians, anesthesia technicians, anesthesia providers, and surgeons. The staff in the OR are proud to provide safe quality of care to our patients. We perform a wide variety of surgical procedures including abdominal and thoracic surgery, bariatric surgery, cleft, craniofacial, and plastic reconstructive surgery, colorectal surgery, cardiac surgery, ENT surgery, fetal surgery, burn treatment, trauma surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology surgery, gynecologic procedures, transplant surgery, and urology surgery. Our OR nurses and surgical technologists receive extensive training and education in all surgical specialties promoting communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. We promote continued education and encourage staff to pursue specialty certifications. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) is required. Experience: Two (2) years of perioperative (OR Nurse) clinical experience and three (3) years nursing experience for a total of five (5) years of required experience Equivalency: Applicants with an Associate's Degree in Nursing who agree to obtain a BSN within 3 years from their start date may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science (BSN) in Nursing Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of hire; Achievement and maintenance of a Magnet approved certification is required within six (6) months of hire. Licensure(s): Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Colorado is required. Professional Membership(s): Active membership in a professional nursing or healthcare organization is required.
