Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Education: Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family Medicine.

  • Experience: Graduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program.

  • Special Skills: Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate. Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and CU MEDICINE Managed Care.

  • Education: Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family Medicine.

  • Experience: Graduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program and 7+ years' experience working in primary care.

  • Special Skills: Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate. Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and CU MEDICINE Managed Care. Ability to meet the School of Medicine's criteria for associate professor.

  • Education: Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family Medicine.

  • Experience: Graduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program and 10+ years' experience working in primary care.

  • Special Skills: Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate. Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and CU MEDICINE Managed Care. Ability to meet the School of Medicine's criteria for full professor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years' experience in a clinic leadership role working in an interprofessional, integrated practice/patient-centered medical home (advanced primary care) environment

  • Experience and enthusiasm for teaching students and/or residents

  • Experience or interest in education and research and faculty development

  • Experience with using an electronic health record system, preferably Epic

  • Experience with providing Telehealth/virtual visits

  • Experience or interest in advanced payment programs

  • Experience or interest in Electronic Record use for quality and management

  • Experience or interest in Artificial Intelligence

The Associate Vice Chair (AVC), Clinical Affairs provides leadership of Department of Family Medicine clinical activities, practice transformation and development of new practices. Additionally, provides direct patient care in a primary care setting. The Clinical Affairs Team is seeking a self-motivated, leadership oriented, Family Medicine Physician who demonstrates outstanding communication, team building, and project management skills while serving as a role model and mentor to other leaders and clinicians and professionals within the Department. The AVC will work in a collaborative setting with other team members in activities that support and grow the clinical operations of the Department, with a strong focus on clinician wellness and health equity. The candidate for this position should highlight their strengths and experience among the key domains of the position which include: operations and management; human resources; practice transformation; quality and safety; information technology and electronic medical record management; residency education; alternative payment and value based care models; population health; communication; recruiting; diversity, equity, and inclusion; health care finances; practice growth and development; and virtual care/artificial intelligence/emerging technology. The ideal candidate would demonstrate experience and interest in several of these areas and would be able to leverage unique skills and personal experience to complement the clinical affairs team. This Physician position is a 1.0 FTE with 0.4 FTE dedicated to Associate Vice Chair, Clinical Affairs. Provides oversight of faculty and joint practice operations, as well as practice transformation efforts. Provides leadership, guidance, and professional mentoring to clinical faculty members. Facilitates resolution of clinical issues. Provides oversight of quality metrics and quality data analysis. Facilitates new practice acquisition activities and leads growth of new practices. Works closely with clinical business team to prepare productivity and incentive plan payments. Attends and actively contributes to clinic and faculty Meetings. Serves on hospital and other clinical committees. Participates in Faculty development efforts. Keeps abreast of the latest developments in field, both academically and through applied skill. Provides high quality ambulatory care in one of the DFM family medicine clinics and/or inpatient care at one of the UCH facilities as designated. Supervises residents and medical students in the provision of care. Exemplifies the highest standards in patient care as a faculty member and role model to learners. Participates in all clinic and hospital quality measures and programs. Conducts educational activities for the Department of Family Medicine. Precepts in the Clinic including direct observation of patient/resident encounters. Provides education to residents and medical students.

The starting salary range () for this position has been established as $195,000-$242,000, along with an annual stipend of $25,000 plus the possibility of incentives based on clinical FTE. $201,000-$248,000 along with an annual stipend of $25,000 plus the possibility of incentives based on clinical FTE. $207,000-$254,000 along with an annual stipend of $25,000 plus the possibility of incentives based on clinical FTE. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
