Physiatry - Inpatient Medical Director

MaineGeneral Medical Center is seeking an enthusiastic board certified or board eligible PHYSIATRIST with experience or strong interest in Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation. If you have great clinical and interpersonal skills, look no further! Join our team of dedicated and patient-centered professionals in caring for patients throughout the Kennebec Valley region of the beautiful state of Maine.

Highlights of the inpatient position include:

  • Medical Director of Inpatient Physiatry with exciting opportunities to be involved in program development.

  • Provide quality patient care in a state of the art 12 bed, private room hospital based Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.

  • Join an experienced and dynamic team of 3 Physiatrists and 4 ARNPs. Rehab PA to assist with care collaboration, rehabilitation and documentation.

  • Fully staffed and experienced MaineGeneral nursing team. Weekend call (by phone) schedule of 1 in 4, on rotation with other physiatrists and in collaboration with high quality hospitalist team members. Exceptions, which require on-site call responsibilities, include occasional weekend admissions or emergent cases.

  • Convenient access to daily Hospitalist support as well as on-call availability evenings and weekends to collaborate on patient care. Specialist support as well as local resources are also available.

  • Access to expansive diagnostic services.

  • Most common conditions include stroke, neurological disorders, Hip FX, amputation, spinal cord injury, deconditioning, multi-trauma, and brain injury.

  • Ability to provide medical student/resident education, if desired.

  • Collegial team with excellent patient support infrastructure and consistently positive patient reviews and successful rates of discharge.

  • Use of Dragon Dictation

  • Acute Stroke Ready Hospital Joint Commission Certification.

  • Stroke Rehabilitation Certification through the Joint Commission

Continuity of Care:

  • Weekly schedule offers a variety and includes outpatient clinic hours to perform rehabilitation, discharge follow-ups and procedures.

  • Opportunity to perform EMGs, if desired

  • Access to ultrasound

Qualifications:

  • BC/BE in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

  • Patient centered commitment to excellence

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Inpatient Physiatry experience preferred

  • Special interest in neurological rehabilitation preferred
