Salary: $47,840.00 - $64,542.40 / yr.Position Number: 2032-1903 Position Location: This is a full-time position located in Augusta. This opportunity allows partial telework with management approval.

You will serve as the Breastfeeding and Outreach Coordinator for the MeCDC's Women, Infants and Children’s Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC). The Breastfeeding and Outreach Coordinator manages the Breast Pump Loan program, oversees the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor program and coordinates and evaluates WIC breastfeeding promotion and support efforts. You willperform management and evaluation review clinical evaluation of breastfeeding services at local agencies for compliance with federal and state requirements. You will also monitor WIC breastfeeding initiation and duration rates and provides technical assistance and consultation on breastfeeding promotion and support to local agency staff, WIC participants and other DHHS agencies and programs. You will collaborate with community partners, participate in community outreach and create and develop materials to promote the WIC program.

You will also:

  • Coordinate with information technology resources to update the WIC program website.

  • Design outreach and other program materials.

  • Plan and facilitate Breastfeeding trainings and quarterly meetings.

  • Work with Stakeholders and Local Agency staff to advance WIC program initiatives.

  • Participate in meetings, including making presentations and note taking as needed.

  • Represent WIC at meetings and other events.

  • Review Local Agency records.

  • Provide support for the WIC State Office and Maine CDC.

  • Provide support for Local Agencies including responding to WIC Front Desk and Help Desk calls.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Community Health, Health Administration, Health Sciences or Health Education; Public Administration, Government, Social Work, or a closely related field and two (2) years professional experience in the planning, development, coordination and/or evaluation of health programs or services -OR- an equivalent six (6) year combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred candidates will also have:

o Excellent oral and written communication skills.

o Knowledge and experience with WIC policies.

o Knowledge of and experience with Breastfeeding.

o The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partners.

o Computer skills, including knowledge of word and graphic design software.

o Website design and maintenance knowledge preferred.

o Ability to work with managers and staff to identify training needs and research information on training/meeting opportunities and to provide outreach materials for agencies in need of technical assistance.

o IBCLC preferred.
