Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a Safety Technician to join our team! In this role you will get to work on the busiest airport in the US.
In this role you will support the construction safety team working on the ATLNext capital improvement program (the Program) at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (HJAIA), while training and acquiring experience in health, safety, environmental, field inspection, quality assurance, and risk management.
What You'll Be Doing:
Enter and update man-hours and other safety statistics in EPMS, and prepare weekly summary for reporting purposes.
Shadow team members of the following positions, in order to learn how safety is considered, implemented and enforced by different roles:
Safety Coordinators and Safety Managers;
Risk Management Specialist;
Field Inspectors and Senior Field Inspectors;
Quality Assurance Specialists and Managers;
Environmental Specialist;
Assistant Resident Engineers, Resident Engineers and Senior Resident Engineers;
Area Construction Managers; and
Project Managers.
Attend and gradually participate in safety and construction progress meetings. Take minutes if assigned.
Learn the following safety concepts, policies, procedures and activities:
Reviewing and commenting on contractor safety submittals;
Reviewing and preparing safety daily reports;
Understanding regulatory requirements and industry best management practices;
Awareness of employer responsibilities regarding implementation and maintenance of baseline medical surveillance programs;
Introduction to the Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP);
Awareness of environmental compliance activities during construction operations;
Evaluating Pre-Task Plans / Safe Plan of Actions, or Job Hazard Analyses, for daily safety operations;
Conducting a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or other investigative process;
Identifying leading and lagging indicators;
Coordinating with contractor safety personnel regarding site-specific safety programs;
Facilitate reporting, investigation, development, and implementation of corrective action plans in case of accidents, incidents, and near misses;
Developing, maintaining, and executing procedures to observe and verify the performance of the contractor’s construction safety and security activities;
Monitoring contractors' safety compliance with OSHA regulations and approved safety plans during the performance of construction activities;
Conducting routine safety inspections to identify safety and security deficiencies requiring corrective action;
Maintaining safety-related project documentation in a retrievable state for evidence of safety and security implementation;
Following up with contractors to ensure deficiencies in safety and security programs are corrected in a reasonable timeframe;
Tracking deficiencies from identification through close-out to ensure contractor exercises due diligence in the mitigation of unsafe conditions;
Coordinating with the project team relative to contractual safety and security requirements as well as corrective actions required by contractors; and
Scheduling and conducting safety inspections / monitoring with representatives of the City of Atlanta Office of Enterprise Risk Management, and others, as required.
Other tasks as assigned.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Complete the OSHA 30 certification within six months of employment on the Program.

Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED certificate. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Safety, Construction or a related major is preferred.

Salary Range:
$21.44 - $37.55
