Description
Litigation Legal Assistant
A well-established legal practice is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Litigation Legal Assistant with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in commercial, construction, and/or bankruptcy litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
Possess a comprehensive understanding of the litigation process.
Prepare and format briefs, pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents.
Manage and maintain accurate calendars for deadlines.
Proofread all documents meticulously to ensure accuracy and completeness before distribution or filing.
Handle state and federal court filings, including electronic and traditional submissions.
Coordinate delivery of documents via mail, fax, or courier to clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, and court officials.
Assist with document production and trial preparation, including assembling trial books and exhibits.
Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, experts, attorneys, and others, obtaining or providing necessary information.
Update and maintain client files electronically in the document management system.
Manage attorney calendars, scheduling appointments, and tracking deadlines.
Prepare and process conflict checks and new client/matter requests.
Accurately handle timekeeping, including entering, reviewing, and revising attorney time entries with proper litigation codes.
Prepare expense reimbursement requests for assigned attorneys.
Review and process vendor invoices, check requests, and ensure timely submission for payment.
Assist with the review and submission of pre-bills and client invoices.
Requirements
Proven ability to format documents to meet firm standards for style, format, and quality, including creating tables of contents and authorities.
Experience with Georgia state and federal court filings, both manual and electronic.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation legal assistant or secretary.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Ability to type 65 wpm – excellent spelling, punctuation and grammar required and knowledge of legal terminology.
Experience with creditors rights and bankruptcy procedures and terminology is a huge plus.
