JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Associate Director of Clinical & Community Engagement is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, management, and ongoing assessment of embedded clinical services (e.g., embedded counseling services, Let's Talk drop-in consultation program, etc.) and community engagement (e.g., culturally-informed initiatives and psychoeducation related to mental health issues, critical incident responses, and postvention strategies, etc.).

  • Works closely with partners from across the Health & Wellbeing portfolio and Campus Life, to provide clinical expertise, coordination of care, and community engagement in service of outreach and prevention programs.

  • This position will provide consultative assistance to the Emory university community and campus partners regarding mental health as needed.

  • The Associate Director is a part of the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Leadership Team and participates in the general functions of a multidisciplinary and multifaceted university counseling center to include but not limited to: initial assessments, individual & couples/relationship brief goal-oriented therapy, consultation/on-call, outreach, and providing supervision and training.

  • CAPS is a part of the Health and Wellbeing portfolio, which includes the Center for Student Wellbeing, Office of Respect, and Student Health Services.

  • Essential Functions: Clinical: Provides culturally responsive, comprehensive, high-quality, evidenced-based individual, couples/relationship, group psychotherapy, and referrals as needed to a diverse student body (in-person and virtually).

  • Provides crisis intervention, assessments, brief interventions, counseling, treatment, and consultation in individual and group modalities to undergraduates, graduates, and professional students presenting with varied clinical concerns.

  • Participates in a rotating on-call schedule as needed for after-hours consultation related to student urgent mental health needs.

  • Carries an appropriate treatment caseload, including individual therapy cases and leading and/or co-leading groups and workshops when appropriate, and takes responsibility for ongoing monitoring and management of case assignments.

  • Develops, implements, monitors, and modifies clinical treatment plans that reflect evidence-based interventions that can be accomplished in a short/brief goal-oriented treatment model.

  • Plans and facilitates treatment coordination and communication as needed, with campus partners (e.g., Student Health Services, Office of Respect, Center for Student Wellbeing), and external agencies (e.g. inpatient) to ensure students are receiving the appropriate level of care based on presenting concerns.

  • Adheres to agency standards regarding case management, documentation, and scope of services.

  • Participates as an active and engaged member of the team, including: staff meetings, multicultural seminars, case conference, professional development, and other organizational meetings; consulting appropriately with colleagues and supervisors and campus partners; and engaging in other duties as assigned.

  • Leadership/Administrative: Oversees the design, implementation, management, and ongoing assessment of embedded clinical services and community engagement in collaboration with the executive director.

  • Engages as an active member of the CAPS leadership team. In collaboration with the leadership team, assesses, develops, and improves clinical and engagement services to provide innovative programming and intervention to address the mental health needs and barriers to access and engagement particularly for those in underrepresented groups.

  • Serves as a consultant to the university community and collaborates with campus partners on mental health issues.

  • Supervises embedded clinicians and those who coordinate or liaise on community engagement, holding regular meetings to ensure adequate communication and support.

  • Represents CAPS at university-wide committee meetings and campus events as appropriate; some weekend and after-hours may be required.

  • Tracks and reports community engagement outcomes. Develops and maintains national networking relationships in areas of responsibility through various professional organizations.

  • May assume administrative functions of the center as designated by the executive director in their absence. Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field, OR a doctoral degree in counseling psychology or clinical psychology, and two years of clinical experience post-receipt of master's or doctoral degree; not a formal fellowship experience.

  • Professional and demonstrated commitment to multicultural humility and delivery of clinical experiences with diverse populations.

  • Experience overseeing/coordinating counseling embedded models and engagement services or similar in a university setting is preferred. Licensed to provide mental health services in the state of Georgia is preferred.

  • Three to five years of full-time clinical and leadership/administrative experience in a university collegiate mental health setting is preferred.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
