Overview

Area Human Resources Managers oversee recruitment and retention, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, training, payroll, compensation, safety, and benefits in the plant. They are responsible for the development and administration of HR policies and procedures. Maintains and updates employee records, various reports, and provides employee coaching on work related matters. This position has a strong relationship with the Plant Manager and Plant Leadership team and must be able to understand business issues and bring solutions that advance the greater interests of the business.

The primary duties of an Area HR Manager include:

  • Provide direct HR support to a group of manufacturing plants (estimated 2-3 plants).

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Partners with site leadership to perform new employee touch points, stay interviews, and roundtable meetings.Analyzes trends and partners with site and corporate HR leadership to develop and implement programs to address business needs.

  • Track key metrics related to employee morale, turnover, retention, and engagement. Partner with site and regional leadership to develop strategies to improve retention and employee engagement.

  • End-to-end management of sensitive investigations into employee relations matters, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other workplace policy violations

  • Leads the annual Performance Management, Talent Review, and Succession Planning programs to build talent through career growth and retention.

  • Manages the annual goal setting, performance review, and merit increase process for salaried and hourly employees.

  • Partners with Corporate Benefits Team to communicate and administerhealth and welfare benefits, wellness programs, 401k, paid time off programs, and other reward & recognition programs.

  • Partners with Corporate Talent Acquisition to develop job postings and progressive recruiting strategies to meet talent needs.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, able to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering on commitments.

  • Excellent communication skills in written and verbal form

  • Passionate about people. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS) and the ability to quickly learn new systems.

  • Self-starter, able to work well despite complex or ambiguous challenges.

  • Flexibility to facilitate meetings, training, and facilitate employee relations events on nights and weekends.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionally handle sensitive information.

  • High level of emotional intelligence.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (fluctuates) and manage remotely.

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field resolving complex HR issues.

  • Eight-plus years of progressive business HR work experience in operationally focused settings.

  • Multi-site HR management highly desired.

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws.

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.

  • Due to the operational footprint supported by this position, there is a strong desire for incumbent to be based in geographic locations in the Eastern Time Zone.

Compensation Statement

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
