Cambridge International Systems, Inc. has a full-time remote Senior Accountant opportunity.

ROLE RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Responsible for monthly close assigned activities like Depreciation, Prepaid Schedule, Lease Accounting, and corporate credit card reconciliations. 

  • Performs accounting activities, including preparing the adjusting, correcting, and closing journal entries. 

  • Expense review and approval for weekly processing of expense reports. 

  • Support for Internal and external audits. 

  • Maintain tax, corporate registration, and reporting requirements for multiple state. 

  • Coordinate with Project Control team for setup of new projects and or contracts modifications. 

  • Support for Revenue Recognition multiple types of projects in compliance with ASC 606.

  • Maintain the monthly bank reporting and other reporting requirement. 

  • Monthly Bank and Balance Sheet Reconciliations. 

  • Work in a team environment and provide business process management expertise to staff engagements and project work streams. 

  • Identify opportunities to improve work processes, enhance quality of service and productivity, and communicate opportunities to Finance leadership. 

  • Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures necessary to support Finance processes. 

  • Foster a process-based culture by performing the following organizational processes: communication, customer relationship management, performance management, performance measurement, knowledge management, people development.

  • Use feedback system to enhance business performance and organizational effectiveness. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. 

  • Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope following detailed instructions.

  • Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accounting practices; office procedures, methods, and equipment.

  • Knowledge of basic auditing principles; principles and practices of cash management; and applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.

  • Skill in using computers and applicable software applications; prioritizing work, analyzing financial information; recording, analyzing, verifying, reconciling and reporting accounting transactions; preparing accounting statements and reports; reading, comprehending, and analyzing financial statements.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form with co-workers, supervisor, and internal and external contacts sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

  • Work is supervised.

  • Performs traditional general accounting functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll analysis, general ledger, and month end closings.   

  • Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.   

  • Maintains or oversees the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, tax payments, and income.   

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy.   

  • Prepares balance sheet and profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports.   

  • Prepares financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close plan.   

  • Prepares forecasts and reports detailing revenues and expenses by cost center. Analyzes financial statements and investigates and reports on variances.   

  • Prepares tax returns and other corporate reporting requirements.   

  • Assists with preparations for the annual audit. Corresponds with other departments to ensure proper accounting for revenue, purchases, and expenses.   

  • May design, modify, install, and/or maintain accounting systems to ensure an adequate recognition of financial transactions.   

  • Responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures.  

    Required QUALIFICATIONS

  • QuickBooks and Excel experience required.

  • Career level with a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts.   

  • Working under only general direction, provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.   

  • Exhibits advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software, review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.  

  • Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.   

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in finance or accounting with 5 - 7 years of experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 to 5 years of experience.  

  • Must be proficient in using different technologies such as computers and other tools and systems pertinent to the position.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel up to 20%

  • In some occasions, overnight travel may be required.

    PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

    Cambridge International Systems complies with Temporary Duty Station (TDY)/Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) vaccination requirements.  If this position requires OCONUS travel (listed above), Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil lists applicable current vaccination requirements by location.

    Office setting:

  • Must be able to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.

  • Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

  • May be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.
