DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Forest Technician, you will perform technical forest support work at Fort Indiantown Gap. You will be exposed to a wide array of forest management practices including fire management, timber harvesting, and urban forest management. You can expect to participate in conducting various flora and fauna monitoring plots or surveys by using a variety of tools to locate and collect data. In this position, you will assist in maintenance and inventory of department equipment and supplies. You perform your work following safety protocols, especially in regards to the live-fire training aspect of the facility. Additionally, you are going to have the chance to hike in steep, hazardous terrain, and work in inclement weather. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: Seasonal, full-time employment Work hours will vary and you will be required to work on weekends for fire duty. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: An associate's degree in forest technology; or Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
