Indorama Ventures Operations Manager in Ankleshwar, India

Job Description:

  • Accountable for the safe operations of the Ankleshwar plant. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordination of production schedule with Supply chain, plant resources and vendors to ensure that plant can meet the planned production.

  • Leads the Operations team to ensure that operational/quality issues are resolved in a safe and prompt manner.

  • Interfaces with Maintenance to ensure that Preventive Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance, shutdowns are well coordinated and to ensure that plant runs reliably.

  • Ensures good Operational systems in place to ensure that plant is kept in good safe operating conditions.

  • Leads troubleshooting effort in the event of operational problems and provide advice to the Site manager.

  • Reviews daily log and works with Production engineer to issue daily production report

  • Coordinates SAP transactions to ensure proper accounting of plant inventory and reconcile the differences

  • Leads regular review of Plant Operating procedures to ensure operating instructions are up to date.

  • Leads regular review of the safety protection systems to ensure that safety systems (like interlocks, One man one Lock etc..) are not bypassed.

  • Supports Supply chain issues as required.

  • Responses to plant emergency conditions as the key advisor to Site Manager

  • Ensures daily Safety toolbox talk is carried out to send a strong safety reminder at the beginning of each day.

  • Serves as a champion for all safety improvement plans/ideas to raise safety engagement.

  • Ensures all plants upsets, quality issues are recorded and leads Root cause analysis (RCAs) on the events and issues learning.

  • Accountable for People development/talent management for Operations. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensures that good progression plans/On the Job training, which is aligned to their career interests, is in place for all Operations associates.

  • Effective personal development plans are in place to ensure required skill sets are acquired for further advancement.

  • Ensures regular promotion review cycle takes place to ensure that Operations associates are not falling behind promotion ladder.

  • Leads regular Operations meeting to maintain good communication with the Operations team.

  • Ensures the On the Job training program is up to dated and well documented.

  • Ensure good communication with the Operations team to foster good teamwork and working relationship.

  • Accountable for the cost & quality management of the Operations. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensures all batch runs are optimized and raw materials yield and Utilities usages are best in class.

  • Encourages cost savings projects to optimize usages and yields.

  • Leads annual review of Plant performance with Technical team.

  • Ensure the product produced meets the specifications and quality requirement

  • EHS responsibilities:

  • To follow site EHS procedure and best practices

  • Read and understand relevant procedure and perform the work safely

  • Support site EHS in safety campaign, Safety observations to prevent the injuries

  • Follow the site PSM procedure and implement the PSM culture

Required Knowledge/Skills:

  • Demonstrate strong Safety leadership and good working knowledge on safe work practices, hazards associated with the chemistry and Operations excellence.

  • Strong effective communication, human relation and organizational skills to work effectively with team/workgroup or those outside the formal line of authority to accomplish organizational goals.

  • Possesses strong analytical skills and good technical background.

  • Strong people management skill

  • A decision maker.

Required Experience:

14 to 18 years of industrial chemical manufacturing experience in field like petrochemical, Refinery or similar

Required Education:

Bachelor or Master in Chemical Engineering. Any Management course and Black / Green belt Lean six sigma certificate is added advantage..

Operation Team approx. 100 Associates
