Fairview Health Services Ultrasound Technologist - Clinic in Andover, Minnesota

Overview

We are seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at M Health Fairview Clinic in Andover! This position will also float to Blaine, Fridley, Brooklyn Park and Wyoming. The Ultrasound Technologist functions independently based on the boundaries of professional practice in performing all major work responsibilities. The technologist performs a wide variety of complex diagnostic testing in the disciplines of ultrasound and quality assurance. Responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements.

Schedule : This position is a .9 FTE, authorized for 72 hours per pay period. Clinic shifts are duing the day and hospital shifts are evening. We can be flexible with FTE, if less than .9 FTE is desired.

Responsibilities Job Description

The Ultrasound Technologist functions independently based on the boundaries of professional practice in performing all major work responsibilities. The technologist performs a wide variety of complex diagnostic testing in the disciplines of ultrasound and quality assurance. The technologist is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements.

Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

Performs examinations with technical accuracy and in a timely manner

Verifies patient identification and documentation

Reviews physician order prior to exam or procedure

Communicates pertinent information to the appropriate health care professional

Achieves quality diagnostic images through accurate patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocol

Communicates with and educates patient regarding pertinent information during all aspects of exam

Recognizes structures visualized and understands their significance

Accurately produces and records measurements according to protocols

Accurately conveys initial findings and clinical data to referring physicians and/or radiologists

Participates in crafting a culture of patient safety

Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness for facility

Applies established professional guidelines and standards to complex, routine, and non-routine diagnostic testing procedures

Ensures patient data integrity and adheres to radiologic safety guidelines and diagnostic testing protocols/procedures

Accurately documents in compliance with regulatory agency requirements., completes computer functions, edits, scheduling, and billing status changes

Follows infection control guidelines and serves as a resource for other healthcare team members

Accurate image marking and digital image manipulation and archiving

Assesses the validity of the test results to determine if consistent with changing physiological conditions or if due to possible interfering substances

Assembles similar relevant exams and reports

Documents initial and ongoing data, interventions, responses/results, or interventions consistent with established policies/procedures/guidelines

Directly communicates abnormal results to care giver

Completed all require continuing education to uphold their imaging licensure

Participates as an active team member

Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives

Responsible for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge required for position

Cleans and maintains room and supplies

Provides coordinated services with customers and care partners to ensure high quality care

Contributes to a positive work environment

Correctly operates equipment according to accepted standards and guidelines

Identifies and responds to equipment problems to ensure equipment is working accurately.

Maintains a high standard of proficiency and accepts new technology as it’s introduced into the facility

Participates in Quality Assurance testing as required by regulatory agencies and/or manufacturer recommendations

Deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served

Qualifications

Required:

Education at a level to be ARDMS registry eligible, including successful completion of sonography clinical requirements

ARDMS registered in one specialty or ARRT RT (S) registered within 90 days of employment

Additional registrations may be required for specific locations based on the site’s accreditations (for example: ACR, AIUM, IAC) and/or regulatory requirements

Basic Life Support - from American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Preferred:

Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program

ARDMS registered in multiple specialties

Additional Requirements (to be acquired or completed within a period of time):

Understanding of current Minnesota Department of Health Regulations. Knowledge of quality control and safety standards. Previous ambulatory care experience preferred. Strong interpersonal skills. Willingness to work at other sites preferred. Due to differences in scope of care, practice, or services across settings, the specific experience required for this position may vary.
