Job Qualifications Required for Field Engineer

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering / Chemical engineering/petroleum engineering with minimum 10 years of proven engineering experience of working for oil and gas project for concept, Feed, Brown field & EPC phase.

Role Purpose:

The field engineer will be responsible as a Go-To person for the Quest and customer and work closely with both the teams to bridge in gaps from the Netherlands project sites. Field engineer to coordinate between local contractors / vendors located at Netherlands project sites based on the requirements.

The field engineer will be analyzing and communicating effectively on the field scenarios from the project sites to Quest and customer team. Develop own relationship with local contractors / vendors in the project site. To provide foreseen requirements / exigency requirements based on the project progress from the site based on the previous site experiences.

Soft skills Qualification on tools and software’s:

The field engineer should have hands on experience on the below mentioned tools and software,

  • Aconex

  • Navi work, Smart Plant Review.

  • AutoCAD, Micro Station

  • PDMS, Lasers can data, Navisworks.

Key Responsibilities:

The field engineer is responsible for various discipline wise and should exhibit the skills on the same as and when required during the project phase.

Onsite Coordinator:

  • Field Visits & Verifications of existing drawings.

  • Collection of site photograph.

  • Facilitating Technical Discussion with Customer.

  • Providing technical inputs to and India team.

  • Onsite Support for all discipline.

  • Discussions with Customer Engineering Specialists.

  • Facilitating 3D Model Review.

  • Issuing of TQ (related to engineering) through ACONEX.

For Piping:

  • Verification PIPING GA / PLOT PLAN as per site conditions and providing of markup, if any deviation found.

  • Piping Tie-in verification as per ADS.

  • Optimizing piping tie-in location for easy piping routing and to save material.

  • Verifying of the existing tie-in with help of operation team for checking working conditions of existing isolation valve.

  • Providing piping line routing mark-up as per space availability and supporting feasibility.

  • Collection of site engineering standard, GP and GII asper project requirements

  • Reviewing of all piping deliverables.

  • Checking of piping tie-in schedule, site plan and plot plan.

  • Reviewing of 3D model.

  • Identifying and providing all the PIPING GA required for the project.

  • Identifying and confirming with the site team for demolition scope with respect to plot plan.

For CIVIL:

  • Identifying and aligning with site team for benchmark including coordinate and level.

  • Verifying of existing structural drawings and UG drawings as per site conditions and mark the deviation if any.

  • Feasibility checking for providing resolution for modification / strengthening of the existing structure proposed by the engineering team.

For Electrical:

  • Preparing rough sketches for tray layout and cable layout.

  • Reviewing the feasibilities for supporting new tray from the existing Pipe rack structure.

  • Verifying existing cable tray for the space availability for laying new electrical cables.

  • Identifying spare feeder for electrical in the electrical substation and reserved it for the project with help of site engineer.

  • Identifying and marking cable entry into the utility substation and core cutting location to pull the cable up to electrical feeder.

  • Collecting the manufacturer’s details of the existing feeder for retrofitting of new switchboard.

  • Verifying of existing cable tray drawings and marking any discrepancies.

For Instrument,

  • Preparing sketches for tray layout and cable layout.

  • Reviewing the site feasibilities for supporting new tray from the existing Pipe rack structure.

  • Verification of existing cable tray for the space availability for laying new instrument cables.

  • Identifying marshalling cabinet number, terminal strip number / terminal number with the help of site team for the termination of new cable in the control room as well as in utility substation.

  • Identifying and marking new location of analyzer shelter on the plot plan, also identified utility and power tie-in for the analyzer

  • Identifying junction boxes for the F&G signal

For Process:

  • Identifying marked utility tie-in on the PID.

  • Collecting the data sheet of existing control valve and Instruments, equipment’s for the confirmation of process data.

  • Identifying and marking process tie-in on PID.

  • Participating in PID review meeting and HAZOP.

  • Identifying and checking existing fire water network drawing.

  • Identifying and providing hazardous area classification drawing to design team.

  • Coordinating and collecting data sheet of existing fire extinguisher from vendor.
