Preferred Qualifications:Advanced degree in a technical field with experience in maintaining systems and applications.

Experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, XML, JSON, SOAP, and ReST/oData.

Experience with NetSuite or with similar ERP systems.

Knowledge of marketing automation tools, warehouse and inventory management software, Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, KPIs, and dashboards is beneficial but not required.

The Iowa State University Book Store is hiring for the Technical Support Specialist role which is responsible for providing routine technical support and troubleshooting to users for a broad variety of hardware and software. This role acts as a resource for specialized knowledge and may serve as the first tier of support.

The Iowa State University Book Store is a retail operation, open 7 days per week during fall and spring semesters. During summer semester, ISU Book Store is open 6 days per week. Along with other full-time bookstore staff, this position will serve as weeknight closer and Supervisor on Duty on a rotating schedule. Additional hours are required during peak seasons and special events. Working hours may be adjusted for night and weekend requirements to support a healthy work-life balance.

Example of Duties

• Pr ovides technical support and troubleshooting for various hardware, software, operating systems, equipment, and applications.

• Advises on hardware and software selection. Escalates cases requiring advanced capabilities.

• Utilizes enterprise support technologies.

• Provides first tier computer support, escalating more complex issues to senior technical staff.

• Installs hardware, maintains software, runs diagnostic programs as assigned.

• Performs routine backup of system and data files; performs restores as requested.

• Documents assigned systems and relevant procedures.

• Diagnoses technical problems via discussions with users.

Level Guidelines

• Entry level position acquiring job skills and learning standard operating procedures and policies to complete tasks• Works under relatively close supervision and receives guidance on new work assignments• Works on assignments which are routine in nature requiring limited judgment• Refers difficult or less routine issues to supervisor or higher-level staff for assistance• May provide guidance to students
