Job Description:

The ISU Research Foundation (ISURF) is seeking applications for a Part-time Patent Prosecution and Disclosure Coordinator. This position offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation at Iowa State University. As the Patent Prosecution and Disclosure Coordinator, you will assist ISURF’s In-house Counsel in receiving invention disclosures and managing the patenting process for university inventions. You will engage with inventors, funding entities, attorneys, licensees, and the U.S. Patent Office to ensure accuracy, review communications, meet deadlines, prepare patent activity reports, and verify attorney bills.

Typical duties include document processing, creating and reviewing communications, docketing, patent filing coordination, and internal/external reporting. You will manage programs, plan and monitor projects, act as a program representative, and participate in project management. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent written and oral communication skills and experience with databases, word processing, and spreadsheets. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities are essential.

This part-time position offers flexible scheduling to accommodate your needs, with an initial focus on extensive training. You'll work closely with industry contracts, research agreements, and the entire patent process.
