Role Summary/Purpose:

As a Java Development Lead, you'll be in a vital role leading the team with design, architecture and implementing solutions for the products that help our clients/partners manage their finances on the go.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the technical integration with a major financial services organization for the installment payments product.

  • Lead the technical design for supporting flexible merchant funding features such as multi-merchant funding and staged funding

  • Identify and implement key financial metrics monitoring, reconciliation monitoring and reporting

  • Implement technical solutions that are scalable, resilient and performant to stringent SLA's

  • Work with onsite and offshore based vendor development teams from initiation and planning through delivery and implementation

  • Serve as focal point for other IT teams and key stakeholders on project status or other project information

  • Evaluate, develop, and implement design improvements and new design concepts

  • Ensure appropriate level of technical review support for project documentation

  • Engage in resolving production issues impacting customers or merchants

  • Work closely with Product Management to improve products, quality, and processes

  • Perform Technology Alternate Assessment, create Proof-of-Concept (as necessary)

  • Provide guidance and direction to product teams to ensure compliance with the standards and best practices

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum 2 years of experience in Information Technology OR in lieu of the Bachelor's degree, High School diploma and minimum 4 years of experience in Information Technology in hands on technical role

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in software development (languages, systems and frameworks such as Spring/Java, Go, Node.js, messaging (Kafka,RabbitMQ/AMQP, JMS)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working on or leading teams performing systems automation and integration (in an agile methodology and/or using lean techniques preferred)

Desired Characteristics:

  • Participation in/graduation from Synchrony's (BLP) Business Leadership Program

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Jenkins, Cloudbees, and/or other Continuous Integration tools

  • Recent experience with design, implementation of products on cloud and software solutions for Containerized, Micro services based eco-systems and Application modernization.

  • Sound experience in building products involving encryption and tokenization capabilities

  • Experience with implementing pub-sub and in-memory technologies at scale.

  • Solid communication skills, highly motivated and demonstrate high level of initiative

Grade/Level: 10

The salary range for this position is 95,000.00 - 160,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
