General Job Description

MPR is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to become an integral member of our. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Human Resources and has a hands-on role in day-to-day human resources activities. The Human Resources Assistant will have the opportunity to provide support in several functional areas, including but not limited to: recruiting and onboarding, training and development, compliance, benefits, and employee morale events . The ideal candidate will have a high degree of confidentiality, accuracy, independent judgment, and initiative. This is a full time, non-exempt position in MPR’s Alexandria, VA office.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees who need general support from HR.

  • Assist with the administration of the benefits program to include the wellness program and annual open enrollment activities.

  • Support the recruiting process by assisting with candidate travel logistics and creating interview packages.

  • Support onboarding activities such as compiling orientation packages, completing I-9 verifications, and conducting portions of the orientation for new employees.

  • Coordinate the offboarding process for departing employees.

  • Assist with the coordination of in-house training programs and updating information in the Learning Management System.

  • Provide general administrative support, including assisting with the maintenance of files, updating the Human Resources Information System, maintaining spreadsheets, and updating forms and departmental lists.

  • Support various aspects of the compliance program.

  • Assist with event coordination for employee morale events and other corporate-sponsored activities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred.

    Experience

  • Strong internship experience or one (1) to two (2) years of related and/or administrative experience with an interest in a career in human resources preferred.

  • Experience working in a professional services firm is a plus.

    Skills – Software

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) applications.

  • Prior experience with a Human Resources Information System is a plus.

  • Prior experience with a Learning Management System is a plus.

    Skills – Personal

  • Flexible, motivated, resourceful, and organized in a multi-functional role.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Strong time management and customer service skills.

  • Motivated to expand skills and knowledge, as well as tackle new problems and take on new responsibilities.

  • Diligent worker with self-initiative and demonstrated effectiveness in completing tasks in a timely way with a proven ability to multi-task and deal with interruptions without losing effectiveness.

  • Persistent, questioning attitude and ability to accept that in others.
