Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: six years of experience* in equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, or human rights.*Qualifying experience includes working with organizations concerned with equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, civil rights, minority business development, or similar programs; or in recruiting, training, and upgrading the educational and job qualifications of protected class members.Substitutions: An Associate’s degree may substitute for two years of experience; Bachelor’s degree for four years; and J.D. or Master’s degree for five years.

Duties Description The Equal Opportunity Specialist 1 will serve as the Designee for Reasonable Accommodations and assist with diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity efforts for the Division of Criminal Justice Services which is a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week agency, and for its hosted agencies, Office of Victim Services and State Commission of Correction. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:• Assist with the implementation of diversity and inclusion and equal opportunity initiatives and procedures;• Serve as the Designee for Reasonable Accommodations reviewing, researching, and making determinations on all requests for reasonable and religious accommodations from employees and/or applicants with disabilities or pregnancy-related conditions as required under the American with Disabilities Act and Human Rights Law;• Ensure that potential legal issues are referred to the Office of Legal Services in an effective and timely manner; • Chair DCJS’ Cultural Inclusion Alliance Committee and coordinate and oversee the development, planning, execution and promotion of cultural inclusion and heritage celebration events and programming;• Liaise with various departments, divisions, and subcommittees to advance cultural and inclusion initiatives; • Conduct special recruitment efforts for protected class members to increase representation and remove barriers that limit the professional development of protected class members;• Share job postings of non-competitive and exempt positions with various diverse population groups;• Represent the agency at various career fairs for diversity recruitment efforts; • Analyze data and produce reports related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and equal opportunity initiatives;• May conduct various training classes related to equal employment opportunity and diversity and inclusion; and• Other appropriate duties as assigned.
