Description of Duties:

The Cardiac Services Program (CSP) is a comprehensive initiative established to ensure the provision of high quality appropriate cardiac services in New York State through the development and implementation of statewide policy in the areas of planning, surveillance, program evaluation/outcomes measurement, and public health.

The Cardiac Analyst will use SAS to conduct advanced statistical analysis of administrative and clinical databases maintained by the NYS Department of Health. Analyses will address issues including but not limited to: outcomes for cardiac patients, comparative effectiveness studies for heart disease treatment, and outcome studies. The analyst is responsible for dataset manipulation, conducting advanced statistical analyses, compiling and evaluating the results, and preparing reports based on the results.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A qualified candidate will have a Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S Dept. of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • At least two years of professional experience applying advanced statistical methods in health services research, using SAS.

  • Master's degree in an appropriate field may be substituted for two years of experience.

  • Proficiency in SAS is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Must have demonstrated ability to work independently. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the following areas will strengthen the application: SAS certification, additional years of data manipulation and analysis; using large clinical or administrative health care related datasets; preparation of study materials for publication, distribution or presentation,

  • Experience publishing in academic journals, additional graduate-level coursework beyond the Master's degree.

    Additional Information:

Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000 DOE

Subject to change, this position may be eligible for part-time alternative workplace arrangement after an initial on-boarding period.
