The Assistant Vice President of Individual Giving provides overall leadership to the annual giving, major gifts, and gift planning programs and collaborates with the AVP for Grateful Patient and Families to provide leadership to our grateful patient program. Managing and coaching a team to success, the AVP develops and implements organizational fundraising strategies for all programs to build robust annual, leadership, major gifts programs and donor pipelines comprising (but not limited to) Albany Medical College alumni, Albany Med grateful patients, community leaders, and other institutional stakeholders.

Working directly with the Vice President, the AVP will make recommendations that shape fundraising strategy and ensure readiness for and a completion of a successful and transformational campaign for Albany Med and the Albany Med Health System. The primary functions of the AVP role are overseeing individual-giving fundraising strategy, program implementation and success, and staff management and coaching. In partnership with the Vice President, the AVP is responsible for achieving and increasing the fundraising goals of the individual-giving team.

Salary range: $112,604 - $185,796

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and direction in planning, implementing, and evaluating Albany Medical Center Foundation development strategies that focus on major, leadership, annual and planned gifts from individuals, both regionally and nationally.

  • Build and retain a strategically coordinated team of program managers and gift officers. Be responsible for assessing and making recommendations for successful outcomes regarding the size and composition of the prospect pipeline, solicitations, and gifts secured.

  • Manage a prospect portfolio of between 75 and 100 top prospects that may include principal- giving donors at the $1.0 million+ level. Contribute significantly to the overall individual-giving team fundraising annual goal.

  • Collaborate with the AVP for Grateful Patients and Families to build a grateful patient program that engages and solicits new grateful patient donors and grows revenue from this constituency to $5M+ annually.

  • Assist the Vice President and senior colleagues in strategic and operational Campaign and annual planning. This includes the identification of new donors and new prospect and program strategies to meet institutional funding priorities.

  • Coach development officers in best practices for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects. Coordinate with Annual Programs to include comprehensive asks for all major gift prospects, and advance Gift Planning strategies to increase deferred and testamentary giving each year.

  • Prepare and/or contribute to briefing materials, proposals, personalized acknowledgement letters, stewardship reports, and other recognition activities.

  • Engage effectively with senior executives at Albany Med and across the Health System to support campaign strategy, messaging, prospect engagement and solicitation, and all stewardship activities.

  • Perform duties and responsibilities according to AMC’s Code of Conduct and Employee Manual; be timely and accurate in all documentation and record-keeping; use good judgment when performing the functions of the job and interacting with colleagues and stakeholders; accept direction and respond professionally to achieve desired result; work cooperatively with others on our team and throughout the Medical Center and Health System; adhere to AMC’s policies, procedures and practices; and, utilize AMC’s problem-solving processes for resolving grievances or disagreements.
