POSITION DESCRIPTION: Speech and Language services provided by a speech language pathologist are provided as a supplement to the child's basic education program, either in regular education or in special education, to enable a child to access education; Provides speech language pathology services as outlined in Ohio Department of Education Rules for Education of the Handicapped; Follows local policies and administrative procedures to assure compliance with Federal and State rules for speech handicapped; Identifies speech, language and hearing handicapped students, zero through twenty-one years of age, through provision of routine speech, language and hearing screening tests as determined by the Office of Special Education; Participates as multi-disciplinary team member or consultant for possibly handicapped students; Provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to determine communicative status and eligibility for services; identifies type of problem---articulation, language, voice, or fluency---determines severity and adverse effect upon education program; Participates with other personnel to complete evaluation team reports; schedules and participates in IEP meetings to determine least restrictive environment, type and amount of program and
