Cleveland Clinic Medical Laboratory Technologist in Akron, Ohio

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), you will be responsible for performing all routine tests and procedures. Some of your duties include collecting venous blood, receiving and reviewing requisitions for tests, calibrating instruments, performing quality control, and performing routine and complex biological procedures.

  • Has an associate's degree from a Medical Laboratory Technician program.

  • Is a certified MLT from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Responsibilities:

  • Collects venous blood and obtains or receives other patient specimens.

  • Receives and reviews written requisitions for routine and special diagnostic tests.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and theory of applicable Clinical Laboratory Medicine in order to produce required measure of accuracy.

  • Performs quality control and instrument calibrations and maintenance as needed.

  • Performs routine and complex biological procedures using standard and specialized instrumentation and equipment in accordance with established procedures.

  • Consistently coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift.

  • Addresses patient complaints and concerns promptly and reports to the Manager as needed.

  • Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure.

  • Follows hospital/system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician program.

Certifications:

  • MLT (ASCP).
