Job Title: Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

The Equipment Mechanic will perform service work and mechanical repairs on equipment at the landfill. In addition to completing work orders, the technician will also schedule preventive maintenance (PM) for the trucks to ensure regular upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs on landfill equipment

• Complete work orders efficiently and accurately

• Schedule and conduct preventive maintenance for trucks

• Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines and heavy equipment

• Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Essential Skills

• Experience with heavy equipment (2-5 years)

• Diesel mechanic certification or technical college (preferred)

• Strong mechanical skills, including auto repair

• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues

• Willingness to learn and work with garbage trucks

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical college degree or diesel mechanic certification (preferred)

• Experience in auto repair

• Electrical troubleshooting skills

Work Environment

The bays are clean, but as garbage trucks are involved, the environment can sometimes be smelly and dirty.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Abilene, Texas.
